As a holistic wellness and nutrition coach, I’m often asked about the products that contribute to my family’s well-being. Over the years, my routine has evolved as I’ve discovered better products or adjusted to changes in my favorite brands. Despite this, there are staples in my life that have stood the test of time, and I’m excited to share them with you.
Why Product Quality Matters
I am a health nerd, so I naturally gravitate towards using top-quality products for myself and my family. When I began on this journey more than ten years ago, there were few organic options available, especially in the cosmetics industry. However, over time, many companies have appeared, each presenting their own organic brands, which required more extensive research on my end.
I began by changing our diet to include the highest quality organic foods, and gradually we changed not only what we consume but also what we apply to our bodies. Our skin is the largest organ and it absorbs everything we put on it, hence it's so important to choose the highest quality product for YOU.
Before I invest in a product, I thoroughly research the company, ensuring their values align with mine. One of my favorite tools is EWG.org, a resource that rates products based on their chemical content and safety.
The products I list below I have tested and used for many years and are things that I recommend to any of my clients as well.
Let’s dive into the products I love:
Beauty and Personal Care
Cosmetics
Annmarie Gianni: Their anti-aging facial oil, face scrub, lip balm, and foundation are staples in my routine. The Insider program offers discounts, making it even better.
100 Percent Pure: I use their mascara, lipstick, and blush.
Well People: Excellent options for brow gel, eyeliner, and eyeshadows, mascara, blush and eyeshadow.
Body Care
Body Wash: Dr. Bronner’s and EO.
Shampoo and Conditioner: Right now I am using Avalon Organics Therapy Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo, which I like.
Deodorant: Look for aluminum- and fragrance-free products. Everyone’s PH is different, so testing is key.
Dental Care
Toothpaste: I always use fluoride-free options from Hello but I am on the lookout for better alternatives.
Perfume
Nothing conventional. My mind is blown by the amount of hormone disrupting chemicals found in comercial perfume - to say the least - and their outraging prices. I love using essential oils instead of perfume. DoTerra, Aura Cacia , Plant Therapy and Now have great alternatives. Plus you can use essential oils in a diffuser to make your home smell amazing. For essential oil diffuser, buy anything ceramic.
Home and Kitchen
Cleaning Products
Detergent: Molly’s Suds Laundry Detergent (concentrated version) and Molly's Suds Oxygen Whitener, available on Thrive Market.
All-Purpose Cleaner: Dr. Bronner’s or Rosey’s. I also like to make my own cleaning products. There are so many recipes online but here is one of my favorite:
3/4 cup Water
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
10 drops lemon essential oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
1/2 tsp Castile soap
Cookware
Opt for stainless steel, ceramic, and enamel cast iron. My current favorite is Calphalon Stainless Steel or Kitchen Aid Stainless Steel
Water Filters
Drinking Water: Reverse osmosis. You can check the quality of your water on EWG.org by entering your zip code. There you can read about many water filter options as well. Best water to drink, though is spring water that has all the minerals that your body needs.
Shower Water Filter: I use the Hydrogen Health shower filter. https://www.hydrogenhealth.net.au/products/hydrogen-health-shower-filter
Health and Wellness
Vitamins and Supplements
my go to right now is Cymbiotika, because they are the purest and highest quality vitamins and minerals on the market today. You can check it out here: https://cymbiotika.com/.
Other favorites are: New Chapter and Garden of Life both of which you can find on Thrive Market too where they often have deals.
Red Light Therapy
Fringe: https://fringeheals.com/ I like their large wrap because they are multifunctional, but the face mask is amazing too.
Online Shopping Resources
Thrive Market: https://thrivemarket.com/ - this is a membership based platform where you can find amazing products at great prices plus they always have free shipping on orders over $49 and many times they offer free gifts with your purchase. The membership is absolutely worth it.
A Personal Note on Wellness
These are just things that I like, you may want to test the products that you are buying and see what works best for YOU. Always remember that in a world where we are bombarded with so many environmental toxins, so many chemicals, hormone disruptors, artificial dyes, etc it's important to choose high quality brands to maximize your well being. Choosing high-quality, non-toxic products is an investment in YOUR HEALTH.
